The ISO 7380-1 M3 button head socket screw is a metric machine screw with a low-profile rounded head and an internal hexagon drive. Manufactured from A2-70 stainless steel, it combines good mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and a clean finished appearance.
The rounded button head has a lower profile than a conventional cylindrical socket head, making this screw suitable for assemblies where available space is limited or where a smooth, visually unobtrusive head is preferred. The internal hexagon drive provides secure tool engagement and reliable tightening with a standard hex key.
A2-70 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless-steel fastener grade commonly associated with AISI 304-type stainless steel. It provides good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, humidity and many everyday chemicals.
The A2-70 property class indicates a minimum tensile strength of approximately 700 MPa. A2 stainless steel is suitable for most indoor applications and many outdoor environments, but it is generally not recommended for prolonged exposure to seawater, chlorides or highly aggressive chemicals.
A2 stainless steel is normally considered non-magnetic in its annealed condition, although slight magnetism may occur after cold forming during manufacture.
This screw uses a standard M3 metric coarse thread with a thread pitch of 0.50 mm. It is compatible with corresponding M3 nuts, washers, threaded holes and threaded inserts.
Because the button head is lower and wider than the head of an ISO 4762 socket head cap screw, it offers a smooth appearance and a larger contact surface. However, it is generally intended for applications requiring lower tightening torque than a conventional cylindrical socket head screw.
